Thanks to everyone who came out to lend a hand at our first clean up! We are looking forward to hosting more skatepark clean ups in the future.
It’s important to note that Skateparks that don’t keep up with these types of ‘housekeeping chores’ tend to draw negative attention from neighbors. And, this backlash is on the rise around the country; neglect of skateparks often leads to vandalism and eventual decline and even closures.
Your interest and willingness to pitch in and beautify the park demonstrates to public officials and others that the park is being attended to by an active and engaged group of citizens. Further, it enhances its perceived value in the community.
We documented the event with a short film which was captured and edited by Skate Catalyst Digital Media Manager James Volk.
